**Number Dojo Level: 14**

Most of these problems at a high school level have fractional percentages. Since we are going from a percent to a decimal, we need to

**divide by 100**.

**How to Solve:**

- Remove the % sign.
- If necessary, convert the fraction (or mixed number) to a decimal.
- Move the decimal 2 places to the left.

**Example 1: 13.7% = ___ (decimal)**

- Remove the % sign:
**13.7** - Move the decimal 2 places to the left:
**.137**

**Example 2: 3 1/5% = ___ (decimal)**

- Remove the % sign:
**3 1/5** - 3 1/5 =
**3.2** - The answer is
**.032**

**Example 3: 3/8 % = ___ (decimal)**

- Remove the % sign:
**3/8** - 3/8 =
**.375** - The answer is
**.00375**

**Example 4: 1 5/8% = ___ (decimal)**

- Remove the % sign:
**1 5/8** - 1 5/8 =
**1.625** - The answer is
**.01625**

**Example 5: 12 3/8% = ___ (decimal)**

- Remove the % sign: 12 3/8
- 12 3/8 = 12.375
- The answer is
**.12375**
